Looking very much the same as it’s 250cc sibling, the RD350 was an altogether different machine to ride. Sharing the same surefooted handling, the bigger bike offered more power, in fact quite a bit more! Derived from the Yamaha R5 model, the first RD350 appeared in 1973 and featured an aircooled 350cc twin cylinder engine offering almost 40 bhp. Most cycle parts were shared with the RD250 but in 1976 the bike was superceded by the RD400. The RD350 did not disappear forever though, the all-new RD350LC of 1980 featured more modern styling, cast rims, monoshock rear suspension and of course the liquid cooled 350cc Yamaha engine.
