Tracing it’s history as a motorcycle and scooter manufacturer back to the late sixties, Aprilia found success during the 1970’s and 80’s as a relatively small scale manufacturer of trials, enduro and motocross bikes, though some road bikes were also offered including the sporty ST125, a bike designed to appeal to the younger market. By the mid 1980’s the Dakar styled Tuareg and AF1 sportster had joined an increasingly comprehensive lineup. By the mid 1990’s success on the world sports stage in both trials and road racing followed and the 2-stroke RS125 and RS250 sports bikes were launched, alongside a range of scooters including the SR, Leonardo and Gulliver.
1998 saw the launch of the RSV Mille superbike and the Falco sports tourer, both bikes featuring a Rotax based V-twin engine, maintained also in the RST Futura and Caponord adventure bike launched in 2000. 2003 saw the intoduction of the Tuono, a 1000cc naked machine which quickly found favour with owners and motorcycle press alike. The current Aprilia range features the exotic RSV4 superbike, the Tuono V4R, Dorsoduro 750 and 1200, as well as a comprehensive range of off road bikes and scooters ranging from 50cc to 300cc.
