Introduced in 1997, Suzuki’s TL1000S featured a 996cc V-Twin engine offering around 125 bhp. Combine that with a smooth 6-speed gearbox, decent brakes and a comfortable riding position, the TL was suitable for much more than just a short blast.
Sadly the bike soon gained a reputation for poor handling, mostly caused by Suzuki’s choice of rear shock. Indeed later bikes had a steering damper fitted (earlier ones were recalled by Suzuki for retro fitting) and many owners discovered that a change of shock and a suspension setup dramatically improved handling.
With a production run lasting only three years, good used TL1000S can be hard to find and are keenly sought after. Many will have aftermarket shock, adjustable steering dampers and exhaust cans (including by famed Suzuki tuners Yoshimura) are popular additions.
